Ephesians 6:10–20
There comes a point in our Christian walk when God calls us to stand.
Not to run…
Not to retreat…
Not to surrender to fear…
But to STAND.
Ephesians 6:13 says:
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”
Many believers put on the armor, but they forget the final instruction: after clothing yourself in truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, peace, and the Word—STAND.
But what does it mean to stand?
1. We Stand in PRAYER
Paul continues:
“…praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit…” (Ephesians 6:18)
Prayer is not the last resort — it is the battleground.
Prayer is how we enforce victory.
Prayer is how we keep our ground.
A warrior who doesn’t pray is a warrior without a weapon.
2. We Stand in the WORD
The Word of God is called the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17).
When Jesus faced Satan in the wilderness, He didn’t fight with emotion — He fought with Scripture.
Standing means speaking the Word even when everything looks opposite.
Standing means declaring truth even when you feel weak.
“Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105
It is impossible to stand firm without standing on the Word.
3. We Stand in FAITH
The enemy attacks our minds, our confidence, our identity, and our purpose. But God gives us a shield:
“Above all, taking the shield of faith…” (Ephesians 6:16)
Faith is what stops the fiery darts of doubt, fear, lies, discouragement, and confusion.
Standing in faith means trusting God even when you don’t understand God.
4. When We Can’t Stand Any Longer—God Holds Us Up With His Mighty Right Hand
You are not standing alone.
You are not fighting alone.
When you feel weak, God steps in with supernatural strength.
The Bible continually speaks of the right hand of God — a symbol of His power, protection, authority, and deliverance.
Psalm 98:1
“His right hand and His holy arm have gotten Him the victory.”
Isaiah 41:10
“I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Exodus 15:6
“Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power…”
God’s right hand:
✔ Delivers
✔ Upholds
✔ Strengthens
✔ Protects
✔ Secures the victory
Even when the battle feels too great, God’s mighty right hand fights for you.
5. God Will Fight When You Stand Still
Sometimes you don’t need to swing…
Sometimes you don’t need to run…
Sometimes the greatest act of faith is to stand still and trust God to fight for you.
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14
Joshua, Jehoshaphat, Moses, David — all stood before impossible situations, and God intervened with His power.
Your job?
Stand.
His job?
Fight.
You may feel tired…
You may feel overwhelmed…
You may feel surrounded…
But remember:
- You are armored.
- You are covered.
- You are strengthened.
- And God’s right hand is holding you up.
Put on the armor.
Stand in prayer.
Stand in the Word.
Stand in faith.
And watch the Lord fight every battle concerning your life.
