John 8: 2-11
In the Gospel of John, there is a powerful story about a woman who was caught in the act of adultery. The religious leaders brought her to Jesus, hoping to trap Him. According to the law of Moses, she deserved to be stoned to death. They asked Jesus what He thought they should do.
Jesus responded by saying, ‘Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.’ One by one, the accusers left, realizing that they were not without sin themselves.
When Jesus looked up, He saw only the woman standing before Him. He asked her, ‘Woman, where are your accusers? Has no one condemned you?’ She replied, ‘No one, Lord.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.’
This powerful encounter between Jesus and the woman shows us the amazing grace and forgiveness that He offers. Despite her sin, Jesus did not condemn her but instead showed her mercy.
Just like the woman in this story, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. But Jesus offers us the same grace and forgiveness that He offered her. He does not condemn us, but He calls us to turn away from our sin and follow Him.
