Seeking counsel is a natural part of life. We often turn to others for advice, guidance, and support. However, the source of the counsel we seek is crucial. In the journey of life, there are two paths we can choose: the path of godly counsel or the path of ungodly counsel.

As believers, we are called to seek God’s council above all else. His wisdom and guidance lead us on a path of life, knowledge, and true wisdom. The Bible instructs us to test the spirits and discern whether the counsel we receive is from God or not. It is important to pray for discernment to distinguish between good and evil.

In Psalm 1, we are reminded of the benefits of staying away from ungodly counsel. The psalm also emphasizes the consequences of following the advice of the ungodly. In today’s world, both godly and ungodly counsel surround us. It is crucial to carefully consider who we seek counsel from and ensure that it aligns with God’s will.

Unfortunately, some Christians seek ungodly counsel from sources such as astrology, fortune tellers, or self-proclaimed spiritualists. These sources often mix the demonic with their practices, opening doors in our lives that we should not open. By seeking ungodly counsel, we may inadvertently give the devil entry into our lives.

Avoiding these sources of ungodly counsel can save us from a great deal of trouble. Instead, we should seek God’s counsel and allow Him to guide us. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us to trust in the Lord with all our hearts, not relying on our own understanding. By acknowledging Him in all our ways, He will direct our paths.

When we choose to follow godly counsel, the rewards are great. God’s wisdom surpasses human understanding, and His guidance leads us toward a fulfilling and purposeful life. However, if we have been accepting ungodly counsel, there is still hope. We can repent for seeking ungodly counsel, renounce it, and turn to God.

It is important not to pick up what we have put down. Instead, we should live with a transformed mind. Romans 12:2 tells us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds in Christ Jesus. This transformation enables us to align our thoughts, actions, and decisions with God’s will.

In conclusion, seeking counsel is a natural part of life. However, the source of the counsel we seek is crucial. As believers, we are called to seek God’s counsel above all else. By doing so, we align ourselves with His wisdom and guidance, leading us on a path of life, knowledge, and true wisdom. Let us be diligent in testing the spirits and seeking discernment, ensuring that the counsel we receive is in accordance with God’s will.
